Franklin County Senate Race Headed for Recount

Today, the Franklin County Board of Elections certified and declared as final the official canvas of votes cast in the 2020 General Election.

These results show the Ohio Senate District 16 candidates within .06% of one another.

Results within .50% trigger an automatic recount under Ohio law (ORC 3515.011). Lett and her opponent are currently separated by just 116 votes.

This morning, the Franklin County Board of Elections ordered an automatic recount to occur. The official date of the recount will be announced soon. By law, the Board must wait at least five days post certification to give notice of the recount to the candidates.

"Every Ohioan deserves to have their voice heard. We will keep working until every vote is counted," said Millie Vaughan, Executive Director for the Ohio Senate Democrats.

Crystal Lett, Democratic candidate for Ohio Senate District 16, is a wife and mother of three. Lett is a passionate healthcare advocate and has a child of her own with specialized health needs.

Crystal Lett works as a Client Services Manager at a financial advisory firm and has also partnered with U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown to fight for CHIP funding.
