COLUMBUS — The Ohio Senate Democratic Caucus continues to bolster staffing for the 2020 election cycle, adding Millie Vaughan as Finance Director and Rachel Coyle as Campaign Director.
Ms. Vaughan most recently served as Deputy Finance Director for Steve Dettelbach’s 2018 attorney general race. Dettelbach raised $7 million for the AG’s race, more than any down-ballot non-incumbent in Ohio history. Ms. Vaughan has also worked for a number of competitive candidates and organizations across the state, including For Our Future PAC, America Works PAC, and multiple congressional and legislative campaigns.
“Millie adds a wealth of experience and Ohio fundraising knowledge to our team at a critical moment. In 2020, we have a real shot to flip several Senate seats. Millie will be instrumental in our success,” said Democratic Leader Kenny Yuko. “Rachel knows the Ohio Statehouse inside and out. Her communications and strategy expertise will help build the momentum we need to win next November.”
Ms. Coyle brings a broad range of Ohio political experience to the Caucus. She has worked with the Ohio Senate Democrats (legislative side), directed communications for Joe Schiavoni for Ohio Governor and Cathy Johnson for Ohio Senate, and served as press secretary for the Ohio Democratic Party. Ms. Coyle most recently managed grassroots advocacy and mobilization at ACLU of Ohio. She also runs a training program that teaches Ohioans how to be effective Statehouse activists.
“If we want to bring positive change to Ohio, we need to focus on the Statehouse. That’s where the power is,” said Ms. Coyle. “Ohio’s Republican majority has been able to pass deeply harmful bills without political pushback for far too long. That ends in 2020.”
